ITHACA, N.Y.—Freshman Colin Frost placed ninth in the men’s race and sophomore Caitlin Jelinek was 11th in the women’s event, highlighting the Binghamton cross country teams’ performances at the Cornell Tri-Meet on Friday afternoon at the Maukley Course. The Bearcat men finished third (77 points) behind Cornell (20) and Army (39) while the women were also third (77) following the host Big Red (15) and Army (54).
In his first collegiate race, Frost covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:01. Junior Jason Santos was 15th (27:17), sophomore Chris Fernandez was 19th (27:28), freshman Jesse Garn was 21st (27:41) and freshman Cal Michaels was 23rd. Max Groves of Cornell was first out of the 48 runners with a time of 26:23.
Jelinek, meanwhile, completed the 5,000-meter race in a time of 19:16. Graduate student Ashley Horton was 23rd (19:53). Katie Kellner of Cornell was first out of 52 runners with a time of 17:56.
