VESTAL, N.Y.—Recent graduate Jessica Hennig, who concluded her prolific track career in May, has been named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team for the 2012-13 season. She earned the honor by virtue of her outstanding athletic and academic accomplishments.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in at least one round of the NCAA Division I Regional Championships.

Hennig graduated from Binghamton with a 3.78 GPA while majoring in graphic design. On the track, she qualified for this year’s East Regional Outdoor Championships.

During her collegiate career, Hennig was instrumental in the rise of Binghamton’s women s track & field program. After finishing as low as eighth in the conference in 2010, the women s squad earned its first-ever runner-up finish at the most recent America East Outdoor Championships. During that span, Hennig won four conference titles in the 400 and was named all-conference eight times (four indoor, four outdoor). In 2012, she was named the Binghamton University Female Athlete of the Year.

In the classroom, Hennig was named to the America East All-Academic Team four times and was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2011. She was also named to the America East Academic Honor Roll all four years.

Jessica has been a true student-athlete since the day she arrived at Binghamton four years ago,” head coach Mike Thompson said. This award, which is a combination of academic and athletic success, is the perfect way to cap one of the greatest careers in Bearcat track & field history.”

Hennig is the third Binghamton track & field athlete to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the program’s 12-year NCAA Division I era. Rory Quiller earned the accolade in 2005 and 2007 while Adam Quinn was selected last year.
